The Lake Newell region is one of the richest tourist, recreation and
scenic regions of the country, There are seven lakes throughout the
region providing fishing opportunities for trout, pike and sturgeon, to
more than one million acres of prairie providing hunters an opportunity
for deer, elk, and pheasant. Lake Newell is one of the country's largest
man-made lakes. The lake covers an area of about 45 square miles, with a
maximum depth of 65 feet. Lake Newell and the area is a haven for
migrating birds, with three sanctuaries-Kinbrook Marsh, Sven Bayer
Peninsula and Pelican Island.
Dinosaur Provincial Park and
Tyrrell Museum field station is a world
heritage site that transports visitors back in time to more than a
million years ago when dinosaurs roamed the area. Dinosaur Park is truly
breathtaking and should not be missed.
Brooks Aqueduct is a national/provincial historic site also
transports visitors back in time to the 1920s. The aqueduct is an
architectural marvel build all by hand.
Brooks and District Museum
paints a picture of life in this area from
1900-1950.
Visits to the Crop Diversification Center
and the Canadian Pheasant
